清光绪十年（1884年）吉林省铸币。正面中央方栏内铸俊秀整齐的篆书体“光绪十年吉林机器官局监制”字样，铸双龙戏“寿”字及“蝙蝠”图案。背面中央方栏内铸汉文币值“厂平壹两”，外铸**币值与云龙纹。正、背面圆环各有50颗小圆圈内齿，意为小龙头加身。背面云纹实际为4条团龙。TheMintofJilinProvinceinGuangxuDecadeofQingDynasty(1884).Onthefrontside,ahandsomeandneatsealscript"GuangxuDecadeofJilinMachineryBureauSupervision"iscastinthecentralcolumn,whileontheoutside,thecharactersof"Shou"and"Bat"inShuanglongOperaar***thecentralsquarebarontheback,thevalueofChinesecoinsis"one-twofactorylevel",whilethevalueof**coinsandtheclouddragonpatternarecastoutside.Thefrontandbackringshave50innerteethofeachsmallcircle,whichmeansthatthesmallfaucetisaddedtothebody.ThemoireonthebackisactuallyfourTuanlong.
该币目前被世间“公认”为大清早被认证(奉批核可)之机制币，传为慈禧太后五十岁大寿而专铸之祝寿币。光绪十年（1884），吉林将*希元向朝廷奏报，从*饷中提取白银五千两，交机器局制造面值为壹两、七钱、五钱、三钱、一钱等以两为单位的五种面值银币。满语中“吉林”即“船厂”之意，当地衡法习用厂平，故此套银两币俗称“吉林厂平银币”，据云图案与文字皆为吴大澄手笔。吉林厂平银币虽由机器官局铸造，但并非使用近代造币设备，仍属银饼性质。因厂平实重仅库平之九五称，不合民间使用习惯，面世不久便被废止，传世极罕。此套纪重银币是中国套机制银元，在中国造币史上具有划时代意义，因此，也成为中国近代机制银币中的大珍品，每种面值均极为珍罕。早在上个世纪三十年代，已是钱币收藏家梦寐以求争相追寻的珍品，大收藏家李伟先、施嘉乾、耿爱德均对该币情有独钟，因为该币不仅是书法家吴大征所书字体的秀美，尤其重要的是该币由中国自行设计，自行雕模，并采用自己的造币土机器压制的枚机制银币，就此诞生的机制银币，不愧为是中国近代机制银币的开山鼻祖，该币名符其实的改变了中国货币制造，自古以来沿用了几千年的浇铸工艺，及银子称量计重支付的落后状况，而且具有中国货币史上划时代的里程碑地位。
