Step 1: warming up and lead-in
After greeting, I will start my class like this: it is spring now and we wear a coat. In the coming summer, girls will wear dresses and boys will wear T-shirts. i will ask the students a question ‘why do we wear different clothes in different seasons’ and students may say ‘ weather’.
Step 2 presentation
I will write weather on the blackboard and show them a map. In the map, there are several places and the temperature of these places. According to it, students will know what’s the meaning of weather.
Then, I ask students why people like to travel in this season so that I can lead to the new word warm. I will set a new situation: we are enjoying beautiful scenery, and a heavy wind blows, how will we feel? This situation can let students learn the word cool. As to the words cold and hot, I will teach them with my body language.
Step 3 Practice
Let students to listen to the tape and find how many cities are there in the weather report, then get the students to give answers and write them on the blackboard.
Listen to the tape again and find the weather in these places.
Read after the radio and pay attention to the pronunciation of each word.
Step 4 production
Ask a student to do actions and other students are supposed to guess the meaning of the new word and speak them out.
Present 4 pictures about four seasons. There are some words describing each season. Get the students to describe these pictures with it is …in…
Step 5 Summary and Homework
Summary: invite a student to summarize the new knowledge.
Homework: make a weather report about Shanghai and Beijing with the new sentence structure and words.
